High Expectations Asian Father

The High Expectations Asian Father meme is an advice animal based on a screen capture of actor Jeon Mu-Song, popularly known for playing dad roles in Korean shows, from the Koren horror movie Epitaph. The image shows the actor’s face centered in front of a typical green starburst advice animal background. It is used as an image macro highlighting the many ridiculous expectations, mainly academic, held by Asian parents from their children. Primarily, it was released as a single topic blog around March 2010. Eventually, the format spread to user-generated platforms like BuzzFeed, Smosh, and the like. However, starting from February 2011, variants of the meme could be noticed across sites like DeviantArt, Quickmeme and Facebook. The High Expectations Asian Father meme is also (sometimes erroneously) referred to as: asian father advice animal, koren dad meme, koren dad advice animal, high expectations koren father meme, disappointed korean father meme.
