Whoa! This Is Worthless
Whoa! This Is Worthless history (read more...)
The “Whoa! This is worthless” meme is extracted from the episode ‘Irrational Treasure’ of the 2012 Disney animated television series Gravity Falls. The frame was taken from a scene featuring one of the show’s main characters, Dipper Pines, being handed a meaningless -$12 bank note as a gift. The image soon was turned into a meme due to its exploitable nature, wherein it can be made to devalue any object, person, or idea by replacing the bill with the subject in question.
Although the initial appearance of the exploitable was a GIF made by a Google Plus user that circulated for a few years, it finally secured its place as a meme by virtue of its 2-panel variant that first emerged on Reddit in August 2018. The “This is Worthless” meme is also (sometimes erroneously) referred to as: Whoa! This is worthless, this is worthless meme, dipper worthless meme, worthless meme, boy in a cap worthless meme, Gravity Falls worthless meme, Gravity falls this is worthless.
