Black Guy Stopping White Guy
Black Guy Stopping White Guy history (read more...)
The Bro! Not Cool meme comes from a PSA from Gillette titled ‘The Best Men Can Be’. The two-panel meme shows a guy about to run after a woman before being stopped by another guy. The popularity of the video meant that the two frames were picked up soon after by meme makers and turned into a template for object-labeled memes. The meme is usually used to describe a situation where something or someone prevents another from doing or achieving something it otherwise would.
Shortly after the video aired on Gillette’s YouTube channel in January 2019, the meme format was created by a redditor, from where it spread to other social media. Although the meme’s popularity has dwindled over time, it’s rare nature means it still pops up from time to time. The Bro! Not Cool meme is also (sometimes erroneously) referred to as: Gillette Commercial meme, White guy looking at girl, black guy stops guy from going to girl, the best men can be, guy being stopped with girl passing, black guy stopping white guy meme.
