Why Do You Always Wear That Mask?

Why Do You Always Wear That Mask? Meme is based on an untitled comic by Shen Comix posted on Twitter on July 25th, 2016. The four paneled image shows Shen asking a person why they’re wearing a mask called “anger” and then lifts it up to reveal “sadness” inside. He then puts it back on deciding that it is better the way it was before. It is used as an exploitable to show the underlying truth behind something and concluding that the truth better remains hidden. The template was later uploaded to Shen’s Instagram and shortly after that, variants of it started emerging on various platforms like Facebook and Twitter. Around December 2019- October 2020, the template went viral across various subreddits too. The Why Do You Always Wear That Mask? Meme is also (sometimes erroneously) referred to as: shen comix mask meme, why do you wear that mask meme, uplifting mask comic, putting away anger mask comic.
