Drake approves / disapproves
Drake approves / disapproves history (read more...)
Drake approves/disapproves is a meme created by isolating frames from the music video of the artiste’s October 2015 smash hit single ‘Hotline Bling’. The meme is part of many meme formats that were born from the video, becoming part of a series referred to as ‘Drakeposting’. It is almost always a 4 panel meme depicting Drake in an orange hoodie, with the two left panels being Drake’s reactions to something ‘he’ likes/dislikes. This, of course, depends on the OP/ creator of the meme.
As with most memes, this one gained popularity first on 4chan before making its way to Reddit, Tumblr, and Facebook. Although first used as early as a few days after the song’s release, the meme reached peak popularity in the early months of 2016, and is one of those rare memes that have stood the test of time due to its universal utility - despite many clones/memes with an identical purpose. The “Drake approves/disapproves” meme can also (sometimes erroneously) referred to as: Drake Reaction, Orange Hoodie Guy, Orange Shirt Guy, and Drake yes/no, Drake Hotline Bling, Drakeposting.
