Socially Awesome Penguin

The Socially Awesome Penguin meme is a reversed advice animal derived from the original Socially Awkward Penguin meme based on a picture of a penguin taken by photographer George F. Mobley for National Geographic’s Wild Animals Site. The template shows the centered penguin, in front of a red-tinted starburst background, walking towards the right side, implying that it’s walking confidently towards something. This image macro consists of overlaid captions describing various lucky situations. Known as the most famous variant of the Socially Awkward Penguin, this meme first came out on January 13th, 2010 as a single topic Tumblr blog. This format, which was called an antithesis of the original one, soon went viral across /r/AdviceAnimals, FunnyJunk, Quickmeme, and other such sites. The Socially Awesome Penguin meme is also (sometimes erroneously) referred to as: confident penguin meme, red background penguin meme, overconfident penguin advice animal, happy penguin meme.
